Sunday school begins on Sunday mornings in the gathering room (downstairs children’s space) at 9:00 am for PreK through fourth grade, while the fifth- and sixth-grade children begin in the junior high (rectory basement).

Our vision at St. Mark’s is for children to receive Jesus Christ and grow in him as they are welcomed into the life of the church through worship, the hearing of God’s Word and participation in the Eucharist.
Children begin in gathering time where we center our hearts and minds to hear and receive the Gospel, pray together, sing praises to our Lord, and develop (and explain) the habits of the liturgy.
After our large-group worship, children are dismissed to their breakout rooms where they engage with God’s word in grade level, small group discussions, responses, and Bible teaching with their leaders.
First Sunday of the Month
At St. Mark’s, we know that all believers are transformed by Christ through worship. We want children to engage in worship alongside their parents—to watch them worship the Lord and be formed by their parents’ faithfulness to Word and Sacrament.
To that end, on the first Sunday of each month, our Kinder—fourth graders will join the congregation in corporate worship. Children are encouraged to sit with their parents or up front in the first pews with their teachers and classmates. We exit to our classrooms after the Gospel is read and return to parents at the Eucharist.
On the first Sunday of the month, our fifth and sixth graders will remain with their families for corporate worship in its entirety. Through this, they will grow in their knowledge of who they are in Jesus and become comfortable with the practices of the Anglican faith. Sermon notes will be provided and will hopefully foster conversation with parents following the service. We will also be discussing aspects of Worship in our classroom time the following Sunday.
Our PreK (three years to five years) children continue to start in the classroom on the first of the month and do not join us in for worship.
On all Sundays, children return to parents during the worship service after having received a blessing or the Eucharist. Three-year-olds should be picked up by parents in their classroom for the Eucharist.
