The first-ever picture of a black hole was released on Wednesday. In the center of the Galaxy Messier 87, a black hole with a mass 7 billion times that of our sun draws subatomic particles at nearly the speed of light from every direction into it.
Nothing has ever been able to escape the inexorable pull of that hole.
In much the same way, we all face an inescapable enemy: death. There are moments in all of life when we are more and less aware of our mortality. But as Psalm 90 says:
The days of our life are three score and ten years,
or perhaps four score
if we are strong.
Our years come to an end like a sigh.
And so this Lent, and every Lent, we have been in the desert with Jesus for forty days. This Sunday is Palm Sunday. Jesus arrives in Jerusalem prepared to die for us. In our place.
Please join us for this Holy Week. Our schedule is here. The more you are able to walk with the Lord in this next week – the more you will discern and discover His Triumph. Which is yours. Oh death, where is your sting?
