Purpose: Ministry to “the least of these” in urban Honduras
Project: Pave Road to Ministry Facility
In 1998 Betsy began to visit the street women of Tegucigalpa. As they accepted
Christ, Jericho Ministries was born—a ministry dedicated to the discipleship and
training of persons who have been involved in prostitution. Jericho’s vision is
that they might be transformed by the power of Jesus Christ from marginalized
individuals into productive members of society, working with dignity and
integrity to rescue others involved in prostitution. Phase I of the program
begins in Jericho Villa, a residential center in the country. Addictions are
addressed and discipleship in the faith begins. Jericho House is the setting for
the second phase, in which the discipleship continues and jobs are provided as
the women adjust to life back in the city. Phase III consists of helping the
women find gainful employment in the community as they continue to grow in their
faith. Schooling has been added at Phase II, providing a Christian education for
the women and their children.
Project Opportunity: Our most urgent project is to pave the road up to the
Jericho Villa rehab center. The road is over a mile long and almost impassable in areas. It would be a huge blessing to have a least a portion of it
paved, using the plentiful rocks that are available on the land and cement.
