Financial Peace University

What is “Financial Peace University”? FPU is a video-based, self-led small group study that explores the ways in which God asks us to handle money and possessions, applying scriptural principles to current-day financial issues. Each week, information is provided via a video “class” and workbook, giving a biblical and common-sense approach to managing individual and family finances. Each week’s lesson is reinforced at home through CDs which are included as part of class materials. The goal of FPU is for participants to educate themselves and, via the small group format, to encourage each other to take positive steps in the way they are managing money in their lives.

Timeless, scriptural truths are used as the foundation for this “course” in personal finance. FPU materials were developed and produced by Dave Ramsey. Outside of FPU, participants may (on their own) want to seek specific advice from a Certified Financial Planner or other professional. Financial Peace University is appropriate for young adults, singles, and couples of all ages and life stages, from those just starting out through retirement age.

• Class runs on Sundays from 1/9/11 – 4/10/11, 10:30-noon, Youth Room
• No Class on Sunday 1/23/11 due to church annual meeting at 10:30 that day
• Class format: Approx 45 min. informational video plus small group discussion
• Orientation and sign-up: 12/5, 12/12 at 10:30 – 11:30am, Rectory
• Cost: $93 (payable at first class). Participants must sign up through St. Mark’s Church to receive FPU class materials at this discounted rate. Please make checks payable to St. Mark's Church, memo line: FPU.
• Class materials include a “lifetime membership” in FPU - and spouses attend free
• Childcare: Nursery available (ages 7 and under). A minimal fee may be asked of participants who require nursery care for their children.
