Our Lay Reader / Chalice Bearer group is composed of some two dozen dedicated St. Markers who have an incredible record of faithful participation in all four services and numerous special services, events and Holy Days.

This group assists the clergy by reading lessons, leading prayers and assisting at the Lord’s Table during Holy Eucharist. Participation is by invitation only from the Rector. Candidates who are chosen must audition for reading and attend training sessions that are offered for all new members and occasional refresher courses provided for the entire group.

The role of the Lay Reader / Chalice Bearer is very much a servant role and those who participate do so in the footsteps of Our Lord who came to earth and walked among us in humility and servitude.
