Hymnathon Results!!

The Hymnathon was a tremendous success, both musically and financially. Many thanks to all who participated! As we finish collecting pledges, we will be able to announce the funds raised. The following is a list of the finalists in the Primary Election, with the top 9 ranking indicated, followed by the number of votes received on Oct. 25:

Special thanks to our Hymnathon organists!

Randall W. Manges- Randall has been organist and Director of Music Ministries at Winnetka Congregational Church since 1987. Randy trained for music ministry leadership at Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ, where he sang under such eminent conductors as Leonard Bernstein, Zubin Mehta, Erich Leinsdorf and Joseph Flummerfelt. His Masters degree in Choral Conducting was earned at the University of Oklahoma under the tutelage of Dennis Shrock. He is a candidate for a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Choral Conducting, also from U. of O. Randy served as organist for St. Mark’s Truro Cathedral residency in 2002, and will serve as organist for the Durham Cathedral residency.

David R. Whitehouse-  David  serves as Director of Instrumental Music at St. Mark’s and has been an organist and choir director at various churches since the age of 13 when he served in his own father’s church. He trained at the Anglican Choir School of St. Gregory, Chicago as a boy chorister, and graduated from Hope College, Michigan, and Northwestern University in Illinois. He has done postgraduate study at The Royal School of Church Music, and Clare College, both in England. He was the music director for the Gloucester and Truro Cathedral Residencies in England from St. Mark’s. In addition to church work, David also enjoys organ and piano concert performance and composing.  His Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis premiered in Truro Cathedral while St. Mark’s choir was on tour in 2002.

Judith H. Truitt-   Judy has been an organist and choirmaster in Episcopal churches throughout her career.  She lives in Wheaton and currently serves as a substitute organist in the area, including many times at St. Mark’s.  She received a Master of Music in organ from University of Cincinnati, studied for a year in Paris with Andre Marchal and holds certificates of Associate (AAGO) and Choirmaster (ChM) from the American Guild of Organists.  In addition, she has a home studio and teaches 20 piano students. Judy plans to take part in the choir for the Durham Cathedral Residency.
