The mission of Saint Mark's is to worship and glorify God as a community
in the Anglican tradition and to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ
through word and example.
The Rector, Wardens and Vestry of St. Mark’s
Church, Geneva, Illinois, note with thanksgiving the intention of the
Archbishop of Canterbury to meet with the House of Bishops of the
Episcopal Church during its scheduled meeting of September 2007. That
meeting and this resolution underline our link to the World-Wide
Anglican Communion and our present status as constituent members of the
Communion. We are also grateful for those Bishops who are committed to
the “Windsor Process” and who intend to fulfill its directives in order
to maintain constituent status. We offer our prayers for the Communion
at this time. In order to fulfill our mission statement as a
parish, we resolve to maintain our constituent membership in the
Anglican Communion and our bond of fellowship with the world-wide
church.
We are firmly committed to Christian worship, Christian fellowship,
Christian outreach, and Christian education.
-
A historical form of Christian Worship through liturgy is the
central focus of our communal life and reflects our desire to be
rooted deeply in the traditions of the Church, the foundations of
scripture, and in our heritage as a community. Our worship combines
the talents of our priests and lay leaders in celebration of the
sacraments, praise and thanksgiving through excellent music,
instruction and challenge through inspiring preaching, and prayer for
our needs and those of others.
-
Christian Fellowship includes the many ways in which we nurture and
love each other, as we gather together for food and fun and support one
another in spiritual learning and growth.
-
Christian Outreach is the intention of all aspects of our life at
St. Mark's, as we seek to bear witness to the truth of God in
Christ. We have a vigorous program to help those in need, and we
support the work of missions throughout the world.
-
Christian Education is a vital part of our ministry and centers
around a desire to teach the love of Christ as revealed in scripture
and to make practical application of our faith to daily life.
